CHESS TOURNAMENT-SUPPORTING THE INTERESTS OF YOUTH

Municipality of Palilula supports youth sporting activities and encourages their interests, said Boban Džunić, president of Municipality, at the opening of this event, on the occasion of Youth Day, which was successfully organized in primary school "Branko Miljkovic”. Youth Office of Palilula, according to the coordinator Ivana Jovic, initiated intense connection of clubs and civil society organizations with the municipality. Chess Federation of District of Nis, under the auspices of Municipality of Palilula, in cooperation with the Office for Youth of Municipality of Palilula and Counsel for young people of the City of Nis, organized the marking of the Youth Day of Nis with chess tournament for primary and secondary schools, called "Day of Youth Nis 2013". This interesting sporting event was opened by Boban Dzunic, President of Municipality of Palilula, in the presence of the President of the Chess Federation of Nis district Igor Lukic, President of the Youth Council of the City Assembly Adriana Atanasov, coordinator of the Youth of the City of Nis Mija Petrovic, volunteers and guests from the Municipality of Pantelej.

According to the organizers, the tournament brought together 40 contestants. The tournament was held in the primary school "Branko Miljkovic" in Nis. Boys and girls up to 18 years in three age groups had the rights to participate. Played by the Swiss System (computer pairing), in 7 rounds per player, with the pace of 15 minutes per game.

In the category of girls aged 1-4 years of primary school, a gold medal and a trophy (4 points) was won by the Lena Savković, silver medal (2 points), went to the Andjela Dimitrijevic and bronze medal to Masha Nastic. The most successful girls aged 5-8 years of primary school, were Jelena Stevanovic (with 5.5 points), who won the trophy and gold medal and Tijana Stankovic in the same category, that won a silver medal. Trophy and a gold medal in the category of high school students is won by Sara Stankovic with 6 points. Miljan Nikolic (5 points), was awarded a silver medal and Bojana Svilenković (with 4.5 points) Bronze Medal.

In the category of boys, preschool, Filip Zdravkovic won a gold medal and a silver medal went to Vojin Peric. In the category of students grades 1 and 2, the most successful was Petar Savic (4 points), who was awarded the gold medal. Radivoje Djuric, with 3.5 points, was awarded a silver medal and Jovan Stanojevic, with 3 points, bronze medal.

Trophy and a gold medal in the category of students grades 3 and 4 is won by Dusan Petrovic, with 6.5 points. Second place and the silver medal went to Dimitrije Stankovic, and a third bronze medal to Jovan Cvijanovic. In the category of students from 5th and 6th grade Nemanja Petrovic was the most successful. He had 6 points, and won the gold medal. Ilija Stanojevic, with 5.5 points, was winning the silver medal and the Vuk Baničević won the bronze medal. From he students category from grades 7 and 8, with 6 points, the best contestant was Uros Jankovic. He was awarded the gold medal and a cup from the organizers. The silver medal was won by Marko A. Krstić, and a bronze went to Nikola Stamenkovic. From high school age, trophy and gold medal was won by Danilo Djordjevic, with 6 points. Stefan Stojiljkovic, with 4 points, won the silver medal and the third and fourth place and the bronze medal shared Misa Stamenkovic and Lazar Stamenkovic. Awards to the most successful competitors were presented by Arbiter Aca Krstic, President of Chess Federation Igor Lukic, coordinator of the Youth Office of Palilula Ivana Jovic, and Danijela Banićević, councilor in the City of Nis.
